HKUST Business School is searching for a capable and dynamic individual to fill the position of Post-doctoral Fellow / Research Associate in the Institute for Financial Research (IFR). The institute’s mission is to address critical social and economic issues of our time by combining and leveraging knowledge and resources across different intellectual disciplines and fields, as well as from different schools and universities. Our proposed research activities and programs will focus on tackling some of the most important challenges and opportunities in Hong Kong today. The institute has four main research themes: a) Technological Innovations; b) Environmental and Social Responsibility; c) Wealth Management; d) Macro-finance and Geo-economics. The appointee will assist faculty members of the Institute in conducting research in areas related to green finance and financial technology and contribute to broader academic and policy discussions under the Institute’s mandate. The job duties include:
- Conduct research in green finance (sustainable investing, climate-related risks and derivatives, renewable energies), or financial technology (blockchain, digital currencies, real-world assets, AI).
- Provide editorial and research support for academic publications, policy reports, and grant proposals.
- Assist in organizing seminars, conferences, and collaborative projects with industry and regulators.
- Perform data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and database management.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Institute.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in finance, economics, computer science, environmental studies, or related disciplines. They should have genuine interest in research and intellectual curiosity. The ideal candidates should possess an excellent command of verbal and written English and Chinese, and proficiency in programming and statistical software. Relevant research experience is preferred. Knowledge of ESG and FinTech will be an added advantage. (Duration: 2 years)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
