The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of staff reimbursement affairs, assisting supervisors in reviewing the work of Assistant Accounting Officers (AAOs) and providing them with guidance. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and highly computerized environment.
The job location for this position is the Manulife Financial Centre (MFC) in Kwun Tong.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and processing staff reimbursement.
- Reviewing and maintaining accurate and timely financial transactions, accounting records and reporting of reimbursement matters.
- Preparing the weekly electronic autopay process, performing monthly bank reconciliation by system and checking for abnormal journal entries.
- Administering related systems and monitoring payment status in accordance with established policies / procedures.
- Assisting in User Acceptance Test (UAT), coordinating with AAOs to participate in UAT and supporting the implementation of system projects in Accounting Operation Unit.
- Handling enquiries on staff reimbursement regarding the policies and guidelines of the University.
- Reviewing the work of AAOs and guiding them to efficiently tackle complicated cases.
- Preparing monthly control reports for supervisors’ review and assisting in monitoring the progress of AAOs’ work.
- Performing any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, associate degree or diploma in accounting or a related field with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience preferably in staff reimbursement or compliance-related areas (membership or student membership of accounting bodies such as HKICPA/ACCA is advantageous).
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and MS Office, with fluency in English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability in dynamic environments, able to work under pressure, responsible, flexible and detail oriented.
- Hands-on experience with ERP system is advantageous.
Duration: 2 years (renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
