Role Introduction
Reports to: Cargo Network Manager
The role sits within our Planning (PLN) department with the goal to optimize our aircraft and slot assets to build a network which will become our competitive edge. The team devotes their focus on scoping out new routes and developing hubs, to investing in aircraft and developing schedules. Our customers are at the heart of the way we are strengthening our network.
As the Assistant Manager Cargo Network, you will support the Cargo Network Manager in formulating and optimizing the cargo network to maximize route profitability and operational efficiency. You are responsible for conducting route studies, developing agile strategies to adapt to market dynamics, and contributing to long-term strategic network planning to ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness in the cargo market.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct freighter route studies for accountable regions to optimize freighter network profitability, including recommending and implementing new route development, flight retiming and routing adjustments
- Provide cargo inputs for schedule and route studies of passenger services for respective regions
- Review freighter performance data of the network, identify problematic areas and suggest actions for improvements
- Perform competitive analysis to monitor industry trends, competitors’ network strategies and cargo demand shifts, leverage data-driven insights to inform network decisions
- Assist the Cargo Network Managers to develop strategies to address demand uncertainties (e.g., geopolitical shifts, economic fluctuations) through scenario planning and data-driven decision-making
- Assist the Cargo Network Managers in preparing commercial cases of freighter fleet studies / cargo options on new passenger aircrafts
- Ensure the accuracy of route performance data
- Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for digitalization to streamline processes, improve productivity, and support data-driven network planning
- Prepare and formulate CX Cargo’s position to help Corporate Affair team present CX’s case for traffic rights talks related to the accountable regions
- Identify new traffic right opportunities based on commercial needs and data research
Requirements
- Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an airline or in a similar role
- Good analytic, problem solving and commercial acumen
- Proficient with data and numbers
- Possess good communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrate continuous improvement
- Is prepared to take ownership and accountability of issues
- Be trusted to appropriately handle commercially sensitive and confidential information
