Assistant Registrar (Strategic Planning Unit) in the President’s Office (Ref.: 532949)    We are looking for an Assistant Registrar to join the Strategic Planning Unit of the President’s Office.   The Role   The Strategic Planning Unit provides support to the senior management in various institutional planning tasks, covering in particular academic planning and academic budgeting and resourcing, and capital projects in recent years and liaison with the University Grants Committee (UGC) on these matters. It has a responsibility in producing the University’s strategic development plans every few years under the direction of the senior management.   The appointee will provide strategic insights into the University’s academic planning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/She is expected to monitor the University’s compliance with the University Accountability Agreement in collaboration with other University units, including preparing annual reports and other submissions as required by the UGC. He/She is also expected to provide support to the teaching & learning strategy formulation at Central level in coordination with different University units, as well as strategy formulation for the taught postgraduate programmes. The appointee will also play a pivotal role in the triennium planning exercise.   Qualifications and Qualities   • A good Bachelor’s degree and preferably a higher degree;  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in administration in sizable organizations; experience in tertiary education, large public organizations or management consultancy preferable but not mandatory; • A good understanding of the local and international higher education trends will be an advantage; • Ability to work independently with initiative, sound judgement and strong analytical and problem-solving skills;  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to supervise, delegate, manage and develop a small team to deliver quality service/work; • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement significant projects with project management experience; • Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese with the ability to present ideas unambiguously and convincingly both orally and in writing; • Effective liaison including information dissemination and exchange, both within the University and with external bodies, with well-honed interpersonal and influencing skills; • Drive for results through collaboration with different stakeholders at the University.   What We Offer   The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 or 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.   How to Apply   The University only accepts online application for the above post.
