South Island School is looking for an Educational Assistant, Spanish (Part Time) to join the team.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the classroom teacher, the candidate would be responsible for the following:
- Facilitate Spanish practice with small groups of students.
- Foster a positive and motivating learning environment.
- Help students develop confidence in their language skills.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to the students and the classroom teacher.
- Adapt methods of delivery to support students based on their needs.
- Proactively communicate with classroom teachers prior to classes to clarify the tasks involved.
- Assist the classroom teacher/Head of Department with Spanish-related tasks as needed.
- Undertake mandatory training courses provided by the school e.g. Safeguarding.
Requirements
- Native Spanish speaker with strong communication skills in English.
- Excellent communication skills, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Ability to effectively engage with individual students, small groups, and the entire class under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Capable and confident in delivering straightforward activities tailored to small groups of non-native Spanish speakers.
- Ability to connect with students and address their individual learning needs.
- Confidence in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about key aspects of the MYP, IGCSE, and IB curriculums.
- Ability to work collaboratively as an integral member of the Spanish Department.
- Proficient in ICT skills, including Microsoft Office (emails) and Google applications (Google Slides & Google Sheets); access to a personal device is required.
- Flexible in providing extra support to students during busy exam periods.
- Availability to work approximately 18 hours over a two-week period, term time only.
