The role:
The University is looking for a high calibre person to lead the Student Housing and Residential Life Team to oversee the student housing operation and offer a fruitful residential experience of students. At present, the University manages over 4,500 hall places for undergraduate students and close to 1,500 places for postgraduate students on campus. It also manages off-campus housing such as over 500 beds in Tseung Kwan O hostel and operates a service to help students arrange their own housing. A further 1,500+ hall places would also be made available on-campus by phase.
The University is committed to the whole person development of students, recognizing student residential life to be one of the very important experiences through which students learn and develop.
Reporting directly to the Dean of Students, the Head of Student Housing and Residential Life will work closely with the Residence Masters who are concurrently faculty members and with stakeholder groups to develop a strategy to enhance the overall learning experience of students in the halls; plan, direct and coordinate the offerings of diverse residential programs; lead the planning of additional halls and their design and provisions; and oversee the operation of student housing, including hall admission and other administrative matters.
The candidate:
- Degree holder- first or higher degree preferred
- Applicants should have extensive experience at a senior position residential life in the tertiary education sector.
- Experience serving as residence master or warden in student dormitories is an added advantage.
- Insight in and enthusiasm for student development, outstanding leadership and management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are qualities expected of the appointee.
- A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese is required.
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
