Department purpose and structure
Our Marketing team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups – including Communications - and professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.
Role purpose
This role focuses on supporting local communications and campaign activities that develop A&O Shearman’s profile in the Greater China market. Working closely with APAC Communications colleagues, the role involves supporting multi-channel strategic campaigns to attract and engage clients, showcase A&O’s Shearman capabilities, and raise brand awareness. It also includes preparing local strategies for Greater China ensuring alignment with the firm’s global communication operating model.
The role works collaboratively with BD teams, partners, and lawyers to develop impactful campaigns, promote our social impact activity, support award submissions, and deliver high-quality branded materials. Responsibilities include managing content for social media platforms such as LinkedIn and WeChat, promoting media and communication best practices, and coordinating press releases and media opportunities. Proactively sourcing market insights and delivering compelling communications solutions, this role plays a key part in reinforcing A&O Shearman’s presence in the region.

Role and responsibilities
- Prepare local communications strategies and campaigns that align with the A&O Shearman brand for Greater China.
- Work alongside the APAC and global communications team to develop insightful and engaging integrated campaigns across various communication channels.
- Provide communications support for key sectors and practice groups.
- Collaborate with the local BD team to gain insights into communications and campaign objectives, challenges, and perception gaps.
- Assist with the development and execution of innovative and insightful media and digital campaigns that are thoroughly planned and measurable.
- Promote best practice in communications and campaigns both locally and throughout the region.
- Support and maintain the A&O Shearman brand and visual identity across our APAC offices by collaborating with the regional design agency to produce brochures, advertisements, banners, social media cards, and other materials.
- Liaise with BD, partners and lawyers on a regular basis to source key themes, market trends and developments to proactively promote the firm’s expertise and insight via media and digital channels.
- Draft APAC content and serve as a local brand ambassador for the various A&O Shearman social media channels: LinkedIn, WeChat and Twitter and coaching internal stakeholders on best practice.
- Serve as the central coordination point for Chambers & Legal500 feedback and assist in the development of firm messaging.
- Assist with website content development, management and publication of the APAC-related content.
- Identify and draft potential angles for media coverage, proactively pitching content ideas to media outlets, filtering incoming inquiries, drafting and issuing press releases, and managing key media relationships.
- Run education sessions for partners on global communication strategies and how to leverage Haiilo content on their personal LinkedIn pages, ensuring alignment with global and regional pages.

Key requirements
- Graduate degree / university degree in business/related disciplines.
- Relevant marketing / business development experience at an equivalent level within a professional services organisation - minimum 4 years’ experience.
- Proven experience in developing and executing high quality, innovative social media campaigns on platforms such as LinkedIn and WeChat, with a strong good understanding of best practice and current media trends.
- Experience in public relations or corporate communications.
- Experienced in using a range of digital marketing platforms and tools (e.g. Content Management tools, WeChat, LinkedIn, Google Analytics).
- Experience in media relations, particularly in successfully building profiles and managing potential risks.
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and multi-task to tight timeframes.
- International understanding of cultural nuances of doing business in the local market and APAC region.
- Track record of working with senior management within a complex international organisation.
- Excellent influencing skills, with the ability to persuade and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proven history of leveraging creativity to conceptualise, execute, and influence strategic campaigns successfully.
- Able to be discrete and handle sensitive/confidential information.
- High attention to detail and a strong client focus.
- Demonstrates highly developed skills in Microsoft Office Suite, use and application of AI and marketing technology stacks (CRM, EDM, PowerBI).
