Job Description:
Apex Group has implemented a regionalized operational structure, segmented by sub-products, to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services while optimizing productivity and efficiency across its global platform.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Open-Ended Operations team based in Hong Kong. This role reports directly to the Regional Head of Operations – Open-Ended Funds and involves close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight & Service Delivery
Lead and oversee the delivery of fund accounting services for open-ended funds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with governing documents and regulatory requirements.
Ensure strict adherence to the established control environment and internal audit standards.
Act as a key contributor to the ongoing enhancement of operational processes and procedures.
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee the timely completion of fund audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting obligations.
Strategic Execution & Efficiency
Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans, guiding teams to ensure seamless day-to-day service delivery.
Implement and maintain an effective operating model across both onshore and offshore components, collaborating with functional leads, CRM, and Product teams.
Monitor actual versus target hours per fund/client, taking proactive steps to improve efficiency and resource utilization.
Ensure prompt resolution of any identified errors and maintain KPI performance above target thresholds in accuracy, timeliness, and delivery.
Client Relationship Management
Build and nurture strong client relationships, consistently exceeding expectations and positioning Apex as the provider of choice.
Take decisive action to address and resolve issues with amber or red-rated clients, ensuring a swift return to green status.
Ensure all client deliverables are met through effective collaboration across global teams.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead capacity planning and maintain full visibility of incoming work pipelines, including ownership of hiring decisions.
Manage and develop team members with a focus on motivation, performance, succession planning, and talent development.
Identify training needs and coordinate with the training department to ensure continuous learning and development.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation, acting as a role model and champion of Apex’s values.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure timely and effective communication with stakeholders to promote awareness, engagement, and support.
Actively support the Group’s strategic initiatives and contribute to a high-performance culture.
Stay informed of industry trends and maintain a forward-looking perspective to support continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or above, major in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Strong accounting expertise; professional certifications such as CPA, CPAA, ACCA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience in fund accounting, with a focus on open-ended fund structures.
Proven track record in managing large, diverse teams within a fast-paced operational environment.
Extensive experience in client-facing roles, with the ability to build trust and inspire confidence.
Deep understanding of various fund types relevant to this role.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin is required.
Highly motivated, diligent, and results-driven, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and performance targets.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Collaborative team player with a genuine passion for service excellence and team development.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
