Overview
As the Manager of Operation Risk (AML Control), you will be a key member of the 1.5 lines of defense within Life Operations (“LO”), responsible for overseeing and enhancing AML controls, procedures, and governance. You will lead initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen operational resilience, and support the execution of the AML-related action items, tasks and projects.
The Job
1. AML Governance & Control Implementation
- Develop, implement, and maintain AML procedure manuals and SOPs across LO functions, ensuring alignment with regulatory, group, and local compliance requirements
- Ensure consistent execution of AML controls across LO, including but not limited to premium collection, third-party payments, and ownership changes
- Coordinate and validate responses to internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory enquiries
- Manage AML-related incidents, ensuring timely and effective remediation and documentation
- Ensure operational systems are designed to integrate AML requirements and support ongoing monitoring
- Work closely with Quality Assurance Team to perform control testing to verify the execution across LO
2. Training & Awareness
- Lead and coordinate AML training and awareness programs for LO staff, including onboarding and refresher sessions
- Promote a strong compliance culture through structured feedback, incident escalation, and engagement with senior management in LO
3. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare AML-related reports for senior management and governance committees
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, IT, Finance and LO teams (New Business, Life Administration, Claims and Customer Engagement) to align AML controls with operational workflows and regulatory expectations
4. Support ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned
The Person
- Degree holder in Accounting, Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related disciplines
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in life insurance operations, with strong exposure to AML controls and regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of AML controls and regulatory frameworks
- Professional certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA) is a plus
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong ownership and ability to work independently
- Confident in working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders with good communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese
