What this job involves:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of building operations, maintenance, and workplace services to create safe, efficient, and productive environments for occupants. This role ensures facility systems function optimally while managing resources effectively to meet organizational objectives and enhance the occupant experience.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Develop and implement comprehensive facilities management strategies across assigned properties
Oversee daily operations including maintenance, security, cleaning, and other facility services
Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and performance evaluations for all facility-related services
Create and administer annual operating budgets and long-term capital expenditure plans
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, building codes, and accessibility requirements
Coordinate space planning, office moves, and workplace reconfigurations to support organizational needs
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for all building systems and equipment
Implement sustainability initiatives to optimize resource utilization and reduce environmental impact
Respond to and resolve facility-related emergencies and service requests promptly
Supervise facilities staff and manage their professional development
Maintain accurate documentation of building systems, warranties, maintenance records, and operational procedures
Interface with tenants, department heads, and executives on facility-related matters
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of progressive experience in facilities management
Proven track record of managing complex facilities operations and staff
Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security is highly preferrable
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and other facility management software
Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational costs
