The Job
- Analyse and manage our portfolio of Alternative assets including manager relationships, manager reviews, performance analysis, cashflow management, asset liability matching for Alternatives requirements, contracts management and portfolio rebalancing.
- Train and develop more junior alternatives portfolio managers.
- Liaise with counterparties, legal advisors, operations, external managers and internal stakeholders to negotiate and draft contracts and agreements.
- Develop and produce improved systems for the analysis of our alternatives portfolio, including performance, portfolio structure and cash flow projections.
- Provide regular Alternative investment portfolio analysis and reporting, ensuring efficient systems are in place to support this in the most automated way.
- Work closely with more junior Alternatives portfolio managers and Group investment team to ensure efficiency of workload management and the best outcomes for the Alternatives portfolio for FWD.
- Provide investment recommendations on potential Alternative managers for the portfolio to the CIO and Group CIO.
- Research global Alternative asset classes, sectors and geographies to provide key inputs to Alternatives portfolio strategy.
- Develop global relationships across the alternative investment industry to seek out potential investment opportunities for FWD.
- Perform capital efficient analysis of complex and structured alternative transactions to optimize our alternatives portfolio and pursue unique opportunities for FWD
The Person
- University graduate in relevant discipline – CFA and/or MBA, with 10 years of investment and management experience
- In depth understanding of the investment management industry and the complexities of Alternatives management
- Sound understanding of investment principles
- Team player with high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure as well as with individuals from a variety of disciplines and levels
- Self-motivated and able to multitask, prioritize, cope with competing demands, and think outside the box
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Accounting and/or risk management knowledge is a plus
- Candidates with less experience or different qualifications may be considered as a Senior Manager
