The Team
We are one of the game cells within Nex Team, creating active living room games and interactive experiences for the Nex Playground, where your body is the controller. Our mission is to build innovative and healthy games for all ages - from kids (4 -10) to parents and grandparents.
We strive to create experiences that are as fun as, or even better than, those found on family-oriented consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Wii, and Xbox Kinect.
You’ll join a growing team of passionate engineers, designers, and artists. As a Software Engineer of one of the game cells, your work will contribute to building an elite game studio.
In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative environment where your creativity is encouraged, and you're trusted and empowered to contribute, learn, and lead.
What You'll Do
- Innovation: Come up with creative ideas and turn them into engaging experience that people love and appreciate.
- Prototype & Test: Rapidly prototype new game mechanics and iterate based on valuable playtest feedback.
- Develop & Implement: Build, polish, and maintain game features using Unity, from concept to release.
- Plan & Execute: Help tracking tasks & issues, estimate time and make plans
- Code with Quality: Write clean, organized, robust code that is easy to maintain.
- Solve Problems: Learn to tackle engineering challenges and solve product design problems as well.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a motivated and creative developer who is passionate about building great games and growing with our team.
You are someone who:
- Is a fast and curious learner who loves to research and dive deep into new topics.
- Loves designing games, levels, and user experiences
- Has a keen eye for detail and takes pride in creating polished work.
- Is a clear communicator who enjoys sharing ideas and collaborating with a team.
- Embraces tough engineering challenges and loves learning new techs.
- Bonus: love to build products for diverse audience, including kids, parents and elderly.
Your skills should include:
- 3+ years of game development or software engineering experiences.
- Unity: proficiency with the engine, including C#, editor features, object lifecycle, physics, animation, UI, rendering pipeline, particle system, custom editor tools, shader, etc.
- General Engineering Ability: fast code reading, OOP & design patterns, Git, command-line tools, memory / performance profiling and optimization, operation system, basic frontend & backend knowledge, and good habit of reading tech-related articles.
- Language: proficient Cantonese and good English.
