Overview
As the Manager of Operation Risk (Data Analytics), you will be part of the 1.5 lines of defense within Life Operations (“LO”), supporting both AML and non-AML regulatory controls through data-driven risk monitoring and governance. You will lead data analytics initiatives and develop dashboards to strengthen operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and decision-making across LO.
The Job
1. Data Analytics
Lead the development and maintenance of management information (“MI”) dashboards and reports to monitor operational risk indicators and strengthen the management oversight
Lead data extractions, reporting, and analytics within LO to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making
Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, IT, and LO teams (New Business, Life Administration, Claims and Customer Engagement) to align data strategies with operational needs
Work closely with Quality Assurance Team to identify higher risk areas through data analysis for further checking
Support risk assessments and incident reviews using data-driven insights
Assist in preparing risk and compliance reports for senior management and governance committees
Translate business requirements into analytical frameworks and actionable insights
Support regulatory projects and internal and external audits with accurate and timely data analysis
2. Data Governance
Define and monitor critical data elements (CDEs) to strengthen control processes and support thematic reviews
Leverage data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, integrity, completeness, and security
Drive initiatives to improve LO data quality and automate reporting processes
Coordinate with IT and LO teams to ensure operational systems support regulatory requirements and data integrity
Support ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned
The Person
Degree holder in Accounting, Data Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Risk Management, Statistics, or related disciplines
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in life insurance operations, compliance, risk management, data analytics or consulting
Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis
Proficiency in data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel, VBA, SQL, Python)
Strong understanding of AML controls, regulatory frameworks, and operational risk principles is an advantage
Experience in data governance, managing regulatory projects, AI and data-driven risk assessments is a plus
Analytical and critical thinking with a solution-oriented mindset
Strong ownership and ability to work independently
Confident in working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders with good communication and presentation skills
Fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese
