The School of Creative Arts (SCA) is comprised of three well-established academic units, namely the Academy of Film, Academy of Music, and Academy of Visual Arts. Our distinguished faculty includes experts from different arts disciplines who are dedicated to high-quality teaching, high-impact research and creative work, and pioneering professional development.
The Academy of Film (http://af.hkbu.edu.hk) is dedicated to providing cinematic arts and creative media education to cultivate talented professionals capable of contributing to Hong Kong's arts and cultural industries. The Academy of Film includes the following areas: film and media studies, film and television production, script writing, post-production, and acting for global screen.
We invite applications for the positions of Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor with expertise in the following areas:
1. AI and Digitalisation of Media and Film
Candidates should possess expertise in AI and digital technology in relation to screen media such as film, television, and internet-based media. We seek individuals with specialised knowledge in the production and distribution of digital content in the rapidly changing global platforms.
2. Global Film, Media and Entertainment
Candidates should demonstrate expertise across regions, with expertise in at least one developed market region, ideally Asia. We are particularly interested in candidates skilled in analysing media markets and industries in the rapidly changing media technology environment. Successful applicants will contribute to the development and teaching of the transdisciplinary programme, BA (Hons) in Business Administration (Global Entertainment), ensuring alignment with industry practices and emerging trends.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Supervise student projects and experiential learning;
- Develop creative teaching and learning-related courses and projects that are theoretically informed and can contribute to knowledge advancement and/or inform teaching;
- Develop course content based on the latest industrial practices and technological developments;
- Work on curriculum development, student recruitment, internship placement, collaboration with the industry, etc.; and
- Perform administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Hold a PhD, or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline;
- Have substantial professional knowledge and experience in the relevant area(s);
- Demonstrates evidence of quality teaching and research; and
- Have excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The initial appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years (12 months per year) commencing as soon as possible or on a mutually agreed date. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review and mutual agreement.
