Senior Finance Manager, Faculty Partnership & Solutions Team in the Finance and Enterprises Office (Ref.: 532902)
The Role
The appointee reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance will be assigned to the Faculty Partnership and Solution Team and will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Leading a sizable team in resource planning and financial management, including budgetary control, resource allocations, research projects vetting, and regular review of financial positions, for the assigned faculties and academic units for all funding sources;
- Acting as a strategic business partner by providing financial advice to support the assigned faculties and academic units, thereby facilitating decision-making processes in accordance with established policies and procedures;
- Identifying and supporting finance transformation opportunities and collaborating with cross-functional teams within and outside FEO to drive process improvement initiatives;
- Supervising the team in managing research project accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial reports and their timely submission to funding bodies;
- Reviewing and coordinating the preparation of financial reports and analysis across teams in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements;
- Preparing management reports for regular budget review exercises to facilitate senior management decisions;
- Reviewing and updating the University's financial policies and procedures, as well as workflows and manuals related to financial operations of relevant systems within the University; and
- Performing any ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A good Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related disciplines with at least 12 years’ relevant post-qualification experience preferably in universities or sizable organisations which at least 7 years at managerial level;
- A professional qualification of HKICPA or recognised professional accounting bodies; an additional MBA or relevant advanced degree would be an advantage;
- Strong leadership and communication skills; strong sense of responsibility and commitment, and good interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills to proactively identify area for improvement and leading change;
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
- Ability to attend to details, meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure;
- Self-motivation and the ability to motivate and lead the team.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and QlikView/Qlik Sense or other business intelligent systems; and
- Hands-on experience in Oracle Financials and/or experience in system implementation would be an advantage.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.
