Responsibilities:
- Own general ledger integrity for all crypto-related entities and activities (fungible tokens, NFTs, staking/yield, validators, DeFi, wallets, custodians, exchanges).
- Lead the process of journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures; drive accuracy and completeness of crypto subledgers feeding the GL.
- Develop GAAP/IFRS-aligned policies for recognition, measurement, impairment, derecognition, revenue, and gains/losses specific to tokens and NFTs.
- Define treatment for airdrops, mints/burns, token unlocks/vesting, chain fees/gas, royalties, staking rewards, validator incentives, and DeFi activity.
- Implement SOX-ready internal controls, safeguarding procedures, and access/approval workflows across wallets, custodians, and smart contracts.
- Design reconciliation frameworks to match on-chain activity (multiple chains/wallets) to off-chain records
- Embed AML/KYC considerations in accounting flows
- Evaluate and implement crypto accounting tools to support multi-chain, multi-entity at scale; define requirements, testing, and ongoing governance.
- Coordinate quarterly/annual audit support, including policy memos and technical accounting positions for tokens and NFTs.
- Monitor evolving standards and regulations impacting crypto (IFRS/GAAP, revenue recognition, fair value, impairment), and lead timely policy updates.
- Advise leadership on accounting implications of product/token design, tokenomics, and new Web3 business models.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with 3+ years focused on Web3/crypto accounting at an exchange, crypto-native company, gaming/Web3 studio, or Big 4/Top-tier advisory serving crypto clients.
- People manager and clear communicator who is able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, high-growth Web3 environment.
- Strong command of accounting for tokens/NFTs (recognition, measurement, impairment/fair value)
- Proven mastery of multi-chain wallet reconciliations, lot tracking, cost basis, gas/fee capitalization vs. expensing, and treatment of bridges/wrapped assets.
- Hands-on experience with crypto accounting software/subledgers and data tools; comfort partnering with engineers on APIs, data models, and ledger mappings.
- Solid understanding of AML/KYC and compliance considerations in crypto accounting workflows.
- Meticulous attention to detail; delivers accurate, audit-ready outputs under tight timelines.
