Senior Systems Analyst (Student Information Systems) (25260003)
The Office of Information Technology is seeking a dedicated Senior Systems Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager (Student Information Systems), the appointee will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and support of the Student Information Systems, as well as other initiatives and projects that emerge from the University's digital transformation journey.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and provide support to existing systems and applications (Java/Web/Client Server);
- Participate in all stages of the system development life cycle, including requirements analysis and design, system development, testing, implementation;
- Prepare comprehensive system specifications and maintain accurate documentation;
- Create testing plans and ensure deliverables are of high quality and adhere to guidelines;
- Provide technical expertise and support to end-users;
- Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and system implementers;
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of new technologies, software, and hardware to meet evolving business needs;
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions; and
- Perform other IT projects and assignments as assigned.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline;
- Minimum of 5 years or above of post-qualification experience in application development;
- At least 3 years of experience as a Systems Analyst with application development expertise;
- Excellent skills and experience in:
- Java/JEE development, EJB technologies, Development Framework and programming in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSF, AJAX, React, Python, Node.js, Spring Boot, SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux/Unix shell scripting;
- PowerBuilder development (experience with PFC is a plus);
- Working with RDBMS such as Sybase, MySQL, MSSQL, and Oracle;
- Using web application servers such as Oracle Weblogic Server, IBM Websphere Server, and Apache;
- Familiarity with API management tools (such as Boomi) and their implementation is an added advantage;
- Prior experience with student information systems will be highly desirable;
- Self-starter and results-oriented, with strong business acumen; and
- Ability to work well in a team environment while also being capable of working independently.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review and mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
