Assistant Library Officer (25260091)

The University Library invites applications for the position of Assistant Library Officer within our Digital Initiatives and Research Cluster (DIR). In this versatile role, you will play a key part in advancing our digitisation initiatives and supporting a dynamic academic community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to a senior staff member in coordinating a major digitisation project, including liaising with material lenders and scanning vendors, training staff in digitisation techniques, and recommending workflow and quality improvements;
- Participate directly in digitisation activities, including handling and inspecting physical materials, conducting image quality checks, performing data indexing, and verifying OCR accuracy;
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance both the public website showcasing digitised collections and the internal digitisation workflow system, as well as support GenAI experiments for indexing, OCR, and related processes;
- Participate in data verification and enrichment for the University’s Integrated Research Information and Management System (IRIMS);
- Participate in social media campaigns and other promotional initiatives;
- Provide counter service at the Multimedia Learning Center (shift duties required); and
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support the Cluster and the Library.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience in digitisation;
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset;
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua);
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment;
- Hands-on experience in graphic design is an advantage;
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete an Excel and English written test; and
- Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Library Assistant.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in the range of HKD 22,275 – HKD 38,375 per month.
