We offer competitive NGO level salary and benefits, the specifics of which depend on the location where the successful candidates will be based. We aim to share this information with candidates before reaching the offer stage.
Other locations that have existing independent Greenpeace National/Regional organisations might be considered on a case by case basis, depending on the hosting capacity availability and compliance, however please note that we can not guarantee hosting ability in every location before we fully assess the situation.
Greenpeace International is looking for a Communications Manager to join its Story and Communication Manager team which leads the development and management of effective data-informed international communication strategies in support of global campaign portfolios - Climate & Energy, Biodiversity and Social & Economic - and organisational brand and identity. You will lead and coordinate communications across the global network to maximise the strategic impact of influential media and social media coverage and audience engagement.
In this role, you will:
Lead the development and management of effective campaign and organisational communications strategies to build public support and political space for campaign impact in your area of responsibility.
Advise and support all project teams within a global campaign with the design and implementation of their communications strategies.
Play a key role in the design, implementation, and adaptation of organisational communication and brand strategies.
Coordinate the involvement of Story & Comms, GPI, and NRO project staff to ensure strategic participation and co-ownership of innovative communication strategies and their effective implementation.
Coordinate multiple global projects effectively, handle international media requests and events, promote community growth, exchange standard methodologies, and adapt to challenges and opportunities.
Develop international communication plans, delivering compelling content through diverse channels and new technologies.
Drive continuous project improvement by ensuring the development and use of dashboards, reports, and evaluation to analyse media and digital efficiency.
Optimize tools with Managers to develop and test new frames for effective communication strategies.
Develop and uphold strong connections with internal and external collaborators to support the delivery of impactful campaign and organizational communications.
What we’re looking for:

Extensive experience in strategic communications, with an advanced understanding of, and proven track record in delivering traditional and digital media output for campaigns
Exceptional English writing and analytical skills, from the ability to draft opinion pieces to translating political strategies into audience and engagement centric communications, strategies and outputs
Knowledgeable about Alternative Futures connected to climate and biodiversity movements and the topics being discussed at the international level
Strong time and priority management, high level of self-motivation, proactive and can-do mentality, ability to work effectively under stressful conditions and across different time zones
Strong interpersonal relations and influencing skills, able to work effectively in a remote situation, and still build trust quickly with partners and colleagues in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
Ability to lead and influence with a passion for excellence, to achieve agreed goals and to drive change without direct authority
Good team player with preferably project management and team management experience
Fluent written and spoken English, and at least one other language, preferably Spanish, Portuguese or French.
Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network's core aims and values.
Digital literacy skills; the ability to learn and utilise our digital platforms to successfully perform the role function (familiarity with G-Suite, Slack and Zoom is an advantage).
