Learning Coach/ Educational Assistant (Learning Enhancement)
The Learning Enhancement Educational Assistant will assist in the education and supervision of individual pupils and work within the parameters of the inclusive model of MCHK where pupils are primarily supported within the classroom and sometimes 1:1. The main purpose will be to support the pupils to maximise achievements and reach their potential by removing academic, social and emotional barriers to learning.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support for Learning and Teaching:
Assist in the educational, social, and emotional development of pupils.
Work collaboratively with the Learning Enhancement Team (LET) and subject teachers to implement Individualised Education Plans, Learning Enhancement Plans & Action Plans when required.
Monitor pupils’ responses to learning tasks and provide feedback to LET and subject teachers.
Implement contingency and behavioural road maps for a pupil as directed by LET.
Assist pupils in accessing the classroom safely and during transition times. Matters relating to health and safety ultimately remain the teacher’s responsibility.
Provide support for pupils outside the classroom, including access to camps, educational visits, and whole school activities, to enable pupils to fully participate.
Standards and Quality Assurance:
Support the aims and ethos of the school and Learning Enhancement Team (LET) through tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
Establish trust and rapport by displaying concern for pupils as individuals.
Recognise and respond effectively to equal opportunity issues as they arise, following relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements
Minimum a bachelor’s degree and a teaching qualification
Fluent in English
Relevant behavioural training and professional development
Experience in working within a LET at an International School is preferred
Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with pupils treating them with respect and consideration
Sufficient knowledge expertise and awareness of pupil's social-emotional and learning needs to work effectively with teachers as part of a professional team
Ability to work effectively with individual pupils, small-group and whole-class under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher
