Job Description:

Main Accountabilities:

• Responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting. Manage and review the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end closing deliverables including the preparation and approval of daily journal entries

• Lead and/or support related projects including a large-scale reporting initiative aimed at creating process efficiencies and enhanced and value-add reporting

• Institute and execute procedures and controls to ensure the integrity of financial statements, including demonstrating that financial results are free of error and reported according to applicable GAAP and Corporate policies

• Support balance sheet reconciliation adjustments

• Support ad hoc requests from various stakeholders, including but not limited to Actuarial, Regional Office

• Ensure the development and training of staff

• Contribute to the business and financial objectives of Sun Life Hong Kong

Competencies:

• University degree in accounting or equivalent

• Qualified Accountant of HKICPA, ACCA or equivalent is preferred

• At least 6 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in the insurance industry

• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others

• Ability to collaborate with other teams and/or business units to produce time driven results

• Adaptable, flexible, and self- motivated in a fast paced and changing business environment with a "can do" attitude

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines

• Must be detail oriented, well organized, self-starter and a team player with a high level of initiative

• Excellent written and spoken English

Assets:

• Knowledge of SAP GL systems

• Strong financial background with broad knowledge of insurance industry.
