Bowtie is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. This role is crucial in maintaining the performance, reliability, and scalability of our cutting-edge insurance technology platform, ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
This is a strategic and hands-on technical leadership role that innovates and continuously improves Bowtie's infrastructure and system architecture.
Infrastructure Management
- Ensure the reliability and performance of the production and non-production environment/ system through monitoring and incident response.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, focusing on comprehensive coverage and clarity.
- Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention in system management.
Performance Optimization
- Conduct regular performance tests and analysis to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Work with software engineers to incorporate performance improvements in application design.
Security and Compliance
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay informed of the latest security threats and proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and customer support, to align on objectives and deliver consistent service levels.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Qualifications and Experience
You are passionate about high-quality code, unit-tests, documentation, and production services
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a site reliability engineering or DevOps role, with expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go and shell scripting.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, and automation, e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, Github, CircleCi.
- Building and operating container orchestrating systems (Docker, ECS, K8).
- Experience with measuring, analyzing, and optimizing performance.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed system concepts.
- Bilingual/native fluency in English.
