About the Business
An intelligent textile solutions company, specializing in transforming conventional passive textiles into dynamic, interactive experiences through cutting-edge innovation.
We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers, designers, and engineers on a mission to bridge cutting-edge innovation with real-world applications. Passionate about intelligent material solutions, we transform textiles into dynamic interfaces for wearables, immersive environments, and beyond.
By integrating AI, embedded sensors, and user-friendly applications, we create textiles that see, sense, and adapt—turning passive materials into responsive experiences. From lab to market, we’re redefining what textiles can do.
Job Description
As the textile technology lead, you will drive the innovation of next-generation smart textiles by leading research efforts that explore new materials, embedded sensing methods, and responsive fabric systems. Conceive and carry out structured experiments to tackle unresolved technical challenges, such as improving conductivity in textile-based circuits, enhancing durability of integrated electronics, and enabling fabrics to react intelligently to environmental or user inputs. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to transform experimental results into prototypes showcasing novel properties that push beyond current textile technology limits.
- Identify and shortlist advanced textile substrates, conductive yarns, and sensor integration options through hands-on trials, focusing on improving signal stability and environmental robustness.
- Explore novel woven and knitted structures to assess their suitability for embedding conductive pathways without compromising flexibility or comfort.
- Plan and conduct experiments to optimise fibre-level conductivity and reduce noise in textile-based circuits, addressing technical issues such as bending fatigue and wash durability.
- Investigate and formulate unique surface treatments to improve conductivity, moisture resistance, and long-term wear performance.
- Develop and fabricate initial proof-of-concept smart textile panels incorporating embedded sensors and responsive elements, assessing functional performance under different real-world simulation conditions.
- Implement textile testing system to quantify mechanical and surface properties of treated fabrics, using results to guide further material and structural refinements.
- Refine fabrication techniques and integration processes to improve performance consistency, energy efficiency, and response time of interactive textile systems.
- Build second-generation prototypes that integrate AI-driven data processing with textile hardware, enabling adaptive responses to user interaction and environmental changes.
- Conduct extended validation of final prototypes to confirm stable performance and alignment with targeted mechanical and electronic functionality.
- Complete technical documentation to facilitate effective knowledge transfer.
Qualification
- A PhD in e-textiles, textile technology, material structures, or a closely related field.
- A strong undergraduate background in textile technology, knit technology, or other relevant disciplines.
- Proven experience in research and development, ideally within textile innovation or advanced materials.
- In-depth knowledge of textile processes, including woven and knitted structures, surface treatments (coatings, functional finishes, abrasions), and material testing methods such as the Kawabata Evaluation System.
- Familiarity with integrating electronics into soft, flexible surfaces.
- Proficiency in hands-on prototyping, from concept to functional prototype.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret testing data and translate findings into functional prototypes.
- Excellent teamwork skills and strong command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.
