The Library is looking for an Assistant Officer to join designated team of the Library’s Resource Management section. The team is responsible for performing procurement for both print and electronic formats, managing metadata and handling electronic resources management.
Major duties of the appointee include placing and receiving orders, processing payments, routine maintenance of electronic resources, maintaining metadata records, collecting usage statistics, and descriptive cataloguing of library collection. In addition, the appointee also needs to take shift duties at the service counter and participate in various library activities as assigned.
Applicants should have at least 5 passes including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A or level 2 if results were obtained from 2007 onwards) and Chinese in the HKCEE; or 5 subjects, including English Language and Chinese Language, attaining level 2 or above (or equivalent) in the HKDSE. The ideal candidates should have working knowledge of MS Office applications, proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese and English as well as Chinese word processing. They should have strong analytical skills, self-motivated, attention to details and able to work in a team. Priority will be given to candidates who have working experiences in academic libraries, especially in functions relating to acquisitions, metadata work, electronic resources management, or Alma library systems, although such background is not a must. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
