The Department is looking for a skillful, self-motivated and high caliber candidate to fill the position of IT Officer. The appointee will provide a wide range of IT support for the Department.
Duties & responsibilities of the appointee include:
1. User Support:
- Provide general IT support to end users by diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Offer guidance on IT equipment purchases.
- Report support cases to supervisors and document them for tracking purposes.
2. IT Equipment Setup:
- Install, configure, and update computers, servers (including Ubuntu and Windows Servers), workstations, printers, and network devices according to university standards and departmental practices.
3. Equipment Maintenance and Security Measures:
- Regularly update software and perform routine hardware inspections.
- Liaise with vendors for equipment repairs and service.
- Enforce IT security policies and practices.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and supplies.
4. Documentation:
- Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, and user guides.
5. Software Installation and Licensing:
- Manage software installations and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
6. Other Duties:
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience in IT support or a similar role. Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, as well as network support, is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming languages related to web applications, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or frameworks like React or Angular, is a plus. Ideal candidates should have a good command in both written and spoken in English and Chinese. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
