We are seeking an assistant facilities officer to provide essential technical support to the Facilities team, focusing on facilities maintenance and operation of the Building Management Systems (BMS). This role is crucial in ensuring that all facilities and equipment function efficiently and safely, contributing to a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Assist in the regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, identifying issues for timely resolution.
- Preventive Maintenance: Support the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate minor repairs.
- Contractor Liaison: Assist in monitoring and evaluating site service contractors to ensure adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
- Equipment Management: Help maintain an inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and available for use.
- Event Setup: Provide technical assistance for setting up and managing facilities for school events, including audio-visual equipment and logistical support.
- External Hiring Management: Manage the external hiring schedule, coordinating with hirers to ensure that necessary facilities are set up and ready for use.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of technical inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety standards.
- Energy Management: Assist in monitoring utility usage and implementing energy-saving initiatives to enhance sustainability across school facilities.
This post may be required to work on shift duties and be prepared to work outside of school hours and/or on weekends to attend emergency calls and support school events.
Requirements
- A degree or certification in facilities management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity and experience with building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety) and their maintenance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, proficiency in Chinese is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations related to facility operations
This is a full time position with annual leave and medical benefits. A new appointee will be appointed on a 2-year contract terms. Upon successful completion, the person may be considered for appointment on a continuous contract basis.
