Hospital Play Specialist (II)
Job Summary:
Playright Children’s Play Association (Playright) is a charity founded by Mrs. Anne Marden and other co-founders in 1987 in Hong Kong. Rooted in Hong Kong for several decades, Playright has all along pursued the mission of advocating children’s play because we “Value Children, Value Play.”
Play is children’s basic need. Even when they are sick, their natural instinct does not change. Our Hospital Play Service, which commenced in 1994, is targeted at child patients. The service helps children to engage in play during their pathway of fighting an illness and being hospitalized, as well as to understand medical procedures, the environment and what is happening in their lives intellectually and psychologically.
A. Key Responsibility
Establish Hospital Play services to be a sustainable and essential Part of the Health Care System
Engage and develop Hospital Play services in different public hospitals including but not limited to the following settings: Nephrology Centre, Ambulatory Care Centre, Special Outpatient Clinic, Radiology Department and other wards and departments as required.
Continue to perform the role with best practices and pursue overseas qualifications and local recognition, gain accreditation and acceptance in the medical communities for quality service provision.
Partner with NGOs & Communities to strengthen comprehensive care to child patients.
Work with different professional bodies and Universities to conduct evidence based research about the service improvement and sustainability of Hospital Play Services.
Advocate Hospital Play Services through participating media promotion and advocacy events.
Requirements
Degree holder in either discipline of Psychology, Nursing, Child Care, Social Work or Education, with preference given to Nursing and Social Work.
Relevant experience in working or playing with children
Have passion for serving children and charity sector
Experience in serving special needs children is a plus
Energetic and good social skills with people
Good command of Chinese and English (oral and written)
Well organized and able to work as a team and independently
Holder of adult first-aid certificate is a plus
Have experience in organizing mass programs or events is plus
With music and arts skills working with children is a plus
