Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532785)
We now invite applications for the captioned post. The appointees will join the laboratory led by Professor Sydney Tang to work on projects related to IgA nephropathy, gut microbiome, and biomarker development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in clinical sample collection and biobank management
- Assist in animal experiments
- Perform a variety of experiments, including qPCR, DNA extraction, library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS), cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, tissue sectioning, immunofluorescent staining, western blot, etc.
- Provide general administrative and operational support
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or above in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline
- Basic programming and statistical analysis skills (e.g., SPSS, R, Python, Bash)
- Good communication skills; self-motivated; strong sense of responsibility; attentive to details; scientifically mature and able to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in animal work is highly desirable
- Knowledge of genomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and/or metabolomics will be an advantage
- Fresh graduates with enthusiasm for nephrology research are also welcomed

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
