Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant (25260137)
The Academy is currently seeking a Research Assistant/ Senior Research Assistant to support an RGC-funded research project on Chinese highly-educated young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEETs), based in the discipline of Sociology.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Principal Investigator (PI) in developing the interview guide and research protocols;
- Recruit participants through diverse networks;
- Conduct in-depth online interviews;
- Transcribe, and code interview data;
- Support the PI in qualitative data analysis and manuscript preparation for academic publications; and
- Assist the PI with additional project-related activities.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s or higher degree in Sociology, Education, Social Work, Communication, or a related discipline;
- Fluent Mandarin (required for interviews);
- Proficient written English (for transcript, reports and manuscripts);
- Proven skills in qualitative methods (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups);
- Familiarity with qualitative software (e.g., NVivo; preferred but not required);
- Strong analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently; and
- Having established networks for recruiting highly educated NEETs will be viewed favourably.

The initial appointment will be made on a contract of one year with a possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory work performance and funding availability.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
